Greg W. Roberts has been a member of the University community for over twenty years, arriving in Charlottesville in 2003. In 2009, he was appointed Dean of Undergraduate Admission. In 2022, he was named Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment and Admission. 

Full Bio

 Mr. Roberts is responsible for all first-year and transfer admission operations. During his tenure, first-year admission applications have increased from 15,000 to 64,000 and the academic strength of enrolling classes has reached record highs as the University welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds. Mr. Roberts has established numerous formal University partnerships with community-based organizations including Questbridge and Posse and he engaged with institutional partners to design the University’s first transfer Guaranteed Admission Agreement with the Virginia Community College system.  

 

Prior to arriving in Charlottesville, Mr. Roberts served as the Associate Director of Admission at Georgetown University and as the Assistant Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Emory University. He has over thirty years of experience in college admission and enrollment and holds a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Education from Wake Forest University. In 2017, he completed the Executive Program for Strategic Leadership (TEP) at the Darden School of Business at UVA. 

 

Mr. Roberts has served on the Executive Board of the Potomac and Chesapeake Association of College Admission Counselors and the Board of Directors for the Common Application. For over ten years, he served as a member of the University of Cambridge U.S. Higher Education Advisory Committee, and he was a faculty member at Harvard University’s Summer Institute for College Admission.  

 

Currently, Mr. Roberts is a is a legislative advisor for the Virginia General Assembly, and he is on the selection committees for the Robert Byrd Scholarship in Virginia and the Jefferson Scholarship at UVA. He also serves as a member of multiple College Board groups focused on leadership and access.  

 

Born in Newport News and raised in Centreville, Virginia, Mr. Roberts is a native of the Commonwealth.
